Hello: If this has happened ONLY ONCE I would not be concerned.

Chickens, especially hens produce what is called Cecal droppings. Every once in a while they will poop something that is not normal
The white is actually the urate part of the poop. Birds do not have a bladder so they incorporate a whitle urate in with the poop. The yellow is a bit of a worry, but like I said if this is rare for her, then do not worry. I would Isolate her and feed her and water her seperately. Any sort of a disease in a bird can be reconizec by what is going on with the poop color and consistancy.

Next time she poops inform us once again what it looks like. You are very dilegent in your care of your birds. watching poop color and consistancy is a great way to keep an eye on the health of your birds. I have feed sacks down were some of my birds roost and night. I look at the droppings daily. after a week i change out the feed sacks and throw the old one out. Since the birds roost in the same spot alot, if I see an abnormal poop I can narrwo it down to which bird is having a problem.

If you feed something different or they get into something in a free range sitiuation this to can change the color and consisitancy of thier poop.

If you would, if the next one is also abnormal, take a pic of it and post it or send it by email to me at

Now, you guys don't start thinking I am crazy, not just yet.

i dont have a picture because i dont have a camera but this time the next time she went it was a big blob of white only im really concerned for her i herd that if its the color of the egg maybe it broke but she should be laying brown eggs because shes a dominique also she is losing feathers now not alot but shes not as fluffy as she was before last night she lost about six could she be molting or do you have to already lay eggs to molt im not sure and she is the only chicken i have at this moment all the others are gone sadly:(

what do you feed her?

what happened to the others?

when people say if the droppings are the color of an egg..that means egg yolk and clearish white..not the color of the shell..

keep check on the droppings..

the others where all killed well we started her on a new diet laying pellets but she didnt get that until today lots of veggies she really likes veggies. fruit. some scratch feed and her favorite thing in the whole world grapes

don't give too much veggies or other treats..only very small amounts.
if she fills up on these..she won't get the protein and nutrients she needs from the feed.
like kids with candy..
also..all those veggies and fruits will cause runny or loose droppings.

what was she fed before the layer feed?

Put her on a good layer feed and hold off on those treats. She's probably not laying because scratch isn't nutritionaly complete and so her devlopment is delayed. She needs to build up her body and immunities.
