Well I was looking at another members post about a ‘different’ Barred Rock and got to thinking, “Gee, is MINE normal?”

He runs, plays, eats, drinks and attempts to fly with the best of ‘em! He’s just, well, a lot underdeveloped. All of my other chicks at least have nice big feathered wings, if not back, chest and even head feathers. He has some wing feathers, and they’re a bit frazzled looking. His fuzz coat is also quite thin. He’s just a bit weird in terms of development, but he is happy and healthy! By the way he is almost 4 weeks. So is this normal?

Have seen this and am trying to remember if I had the same situation.
My rooster was awkward, small wings, long legs, slow developing,in general awkward body shape but totally acted as the rest, but I can’t remember if he had all this.Regardless I don’t think it’s notmal, check for parasites

I have one like this. He is smaller than my Australorp cockerel and his feathers we're very slow to come in. He still is fairly this and/or bald on his back and the tops of his wings. His head and neck look like and Australorps but his butt looks like a silkie. He is also half the size of the other cockerel. We just call him Little Bit the mutant. They are 8-9 weeks old.

I’ve heard that BRs can be slow to feather out... I’m also pretty sure that it’s a cockerel. Hopefully it’s just the same situation that you had!

Maybe this little guy is just like yours!?

IMO, Doesnt look quite normal, Interesting coloring?
Yeah it didn’t seem quite normal to me either... not sure about this little guy!

Doesn’t look like my BR. Maybe it’s a Dominique? I’m not really sure
It’s for sure a BR. I went to a HIGH QUALITY PRIVATE breeder to get them. Saw the parent stock and they are all 100% BR. She did say that hers can be slow to feather out. Hoping this is the case!
