I have a Brahma mix. She is around 31/32 weeks. She isn't laying yet and doesn't appear in any hurry to do so. Her comb is still teeny tiny, although that may have more to do with the breed than anything else. She doesn't squat yet or nest ... nada ... zippo! I know they can be a little late to the egg-laying game, but is this normal? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!! :)

are you sure its a pullet. My Brahma roos (some) are great at pretending they are hens for longer then that before "puberty" hits.

Ooooooh! Good question. The lady I got her from looked at her a little while back and said she is a pullet. She seems to be a "she" (feathering, etc). Would males be crowing by now?

None of the nine Brahma mixes I have (all cockerels varying in ages up to seven months old) are crowing. They are with the Roo Gang and may not feel the need to. Dunno. Usually all the boys in the Roo Gang practice crowing for a day or a week at some point.

Here are some pictures of the girl in question (Mrs. Fuggacci). :) Her neck and saddle feathers look like a hen's? No? The first picture was taken a while back. The others are more up to date.

sure looks like a pullet to me. BUT, there's always a chance you have a "drag queen" rooster. I have also had some hen's take up to 36 weeks to lay.

She does look like she might be close by the deeper/brighter red of comb and wattles.

Also some of mine have very small combs about the size of yours.

"Drag Queen" rooster!!!! :) HAA!!!!!

Also, does anyone have any ideas of what her mix might be? I know Brahma, but not sure what kind of Brahma (dark, etc?). Also, maybe Cochin? I'd love to get some thoughts.
