Hello! We’ve got four baby chicks here and they are about 2.5 week old. I noticed that in the past two days they have been super active and a couple even flew out of the large plastic container that they are in. I improvised by putting a mosquito net over it. Do you think the container is getting too small for them?

I literally cannot find a even bigger plastic container. We do have a coop but it’s not assembled yet…

It will be soon. I brood in a tub like this but I have holes drilled along the bottom above the bedding level so air can circulate. But it is never big enough after two weeks. Try to find a cardboard appliance box or even a big wire dog kennel in the next week or so

Same. I have brooded in smaller but it would be best in the next week or so to upgrade.

Is it possible to brood them in their coop?

In Houston you won't need heat for them much longer anyway. I've got 4-week-old chicks off heat here in central NC.
Absolutely- I'm just not mentally ready to move the chicks to the coop yet. It's been nice going to our guest bedroom to see them :D

It's delightful to see them out exploring their space.

My coop is big enough for me to sit with them in a lawn chair.
