Is my brooder too small?

Am I crazy in thinking this tent could work? I bought it years ago for our foster kittens.
My only concern would be that that nylon stuff seems kinda sensitive to heat. Putting a nice buffer between it and your heater would probably work well. Personally, I like using weight-plates as the various buffers for my brooder items. Raising them up does WONDERS for keeping bedding out of the food and water.

Absolutely- I'm just not mentally ready to move the chicks to the coop yet. It's been nice going to our guest bedroom to see them :D
Completely understandable. When my first batch went outside for their first full night, I don't think I slept at all due to all my worry.

However, your SO will thank you for getting those stinky birds out of there! :p

I saw a large box at work and dragged it back home as a temp box for the week. Hoping this one will last more than a week, then off to the tent, and then off to the coop they go!

Hello! So it was finally time for the chicks to somewhat leave the house before they are ready for the outside coop. And I set them up in the tent in our garage. It is still a decent temp and airflow in the garage for the time being. They will be moved outside in two weeks. I gave them a tampon box (LOL) in case they want somewhere quiet and dark to cuddle but so far they have been ignoring the roost and the box and just all huddle in a corner of the tent looking lost. Is there something I can do to make them feel safer?

Mine seem like they are naturally scared everytime things would change or shift from what they had gotten used to. It didn't last but you could tell it altered their "routine"

I did the same thing with a puppy pads box, they refused to use it. But then I saw why, 1 single little turd was chasing a couple into the box and they had no exit so I made it tunnel like and then they started to slowly use it and no more issues.

Oh thats a great idea!! I will cut off the other side of the tampon box hahaha

Any suggestions on how I can teach my chick to use the perch? I put this one in their brooder but it's been ignored for days now. I tried to put a few on it and they just immediately jumped off. Wanted to give it a few more tries before returning...

Eventually they’ll jump on it. They are probably just getting comfortable with thr new setup.
