Is my Buff Duck going to die?

It does sound like Niacin deficiency. Hope your little guy gets better now that you have added more niacin to the diet. You don't always see this in every bird even though they are all getting the same thing. I've known several people who raised ducks on chick starter which has low Niacin levels and not have a single problem with their birds, but it seems like some individual ducks just require more.

Another cause of leg issues could be weak legs due to not enough room to exercise. This may not be the case with yours just another option for cause of leg issues.

We had just moved them outside. There pen was slightly smaller. However, we have been taking them for short walked and swims at least every two days. Could lack of exercise still be a cause?

UPDATE

I seems to be happy enough, I put one of his sisters inside with him tonight. They were very happy to see each other.

More importantly, I checked him out a little closer. I held him up a few inched of the ground. I noticed one of his legs works well and the other just hangs limp. Does that help with ID his problem.

I have no idea but keep up the niacin and water therapy those are the 2 best things you can do for him right now. Water therapy 2X a day if you can work it in. Warm water would be best.

I wouldn't be trying to make him walk right now, give him a couple days of the vitamins and niacin and water therapy, maybe some leg massages.

Checked him out the mourning.

He seems to have slightly more strength in bad leg. He was able to move himself on the ground but we stopped him. We took him for a swim and will do it again later today.

Good to hear he seems a tad better which is so much better than worse. Keep up the water therapy and niacin and vitamins..

Just an update. We have been continuing his diet and water therapy. He's doing much better. Just a few more days of isolation and exercise then he go back with his family. His name is Bagwell, by the way.

Standing all by himself.
