100% a Cockerel. He's got Saddles, & Hackles.
Just a late bloomer.
Agreed. Anyone saying otherwise is entirely uneducated when it comes to sexing. This is one of the most clear cockerels I have ever seen. Non-production line Orpington males often have smaller combs and take longer to mature and this is speaking from experience

Well, I learn something new every day! I've only kept chickens for a couple years now. My rooster was hatchery stock from tsc, and looked nothing like this so maybe he was not the best example to learn from. I didn't realize their combs could be so small. Todays' knowledge gleaned is that feathers are more telling than combs/wattles. This was helpful info!

Hoover's Buff Orpington stock is mixed with Heritage X Utility Orpingtons. I had a big Buff Orpington that I got from TSC, & he fit all characteristics of a Heritage Orpington, but I don't have pictures of him. I didn't have a good cellphone then.

Very interesting! This was my boy Hawkeye at about 4 months, he was pretty big and leggy, had a great temperament, but not as fluffy as I had expected. Unfortunately lost him to neighbors dogs about a month ago. He would have been a year in March!
