Hi all I'm very new here.

I have a chick that showed signs of a rooster when they were younger but now they look like a hen and I'm confused.

Please could you help me to identify the gender, I feel very dumb for not knowing as I have had chickens for very long.
This is the first time that I'm confused with the gender.

I do appreciate it a lot🙏

How old? I don't see anything that makes me think this could be a male, but if it's under 9-12 weeks there wouldn't be much in the way of secondary sex characteristics to go on.

Don't feel dumb! It looks like a brahma, and they can be tricky to sex as they tend to be slow to mature. Some chickens keep us guessing right up until you get a criw or an egg.

If I remember correctly they hatched in August 2025 or September 2025. All the signs when they were younger was a roe.

I do not have any brahma chickens, my chickens do have a lot of feathers around their feet though. My chickens are completely mixed🤣.

But thank you so much I thought I was going crazy.
