Is my chick definitely a cream legbar female?

I got this chick about 2 weeks ago when she was only a day old and was told she was a crested cream legbar female but I have been looking at how she should look at this age and I can’t see any crest coming through and her legs, comb and beak are not yellow like in pictures. Her comb is also worryingly big. I got her from a local breeder but if I’m honest, the conditions weren’t great and her sister, who was extremely sickly when I got her, died very quickly. Please let me know what you guys think! Thank you 😊

The crest won’t show up until it grows proper feathers on the head. At least that has been my experience with a maran/legbar cross. Wasn’t sure what it was as a chick because of the feathered feet and dark chipmunk pattern, then it developed a small crest around 4 weeks old.

As for gender, I don’t like to make guesses until about 4+ weeks unless there is pink/red before then. Created cream legbars should be auto sexing at hatch with males being more grey with a spot on the head and females being brown chipmunk striped. Got any pictures of it shortly after you got it?

Only for sure way is to give it a couple more weeks, but based on current overall appearance I do think it’s female.

Thank you so much for the response. There’s a thread on here called ‘cream legbars - from chick to adult’ and the two week old chicks look quite a bit different to mine so I was a little worried. I really do hope she is a female since I have gotten very attached to her. I will add a pic of her when I first got her to see what you think. To me she does look like a female but I’m just afraid that she could be a mix or something?

Okay I take that back. She was maybe around 3-4 weeks when she got hers.
The second picture is when she was 2-3 days old.

My crested cream legbar didn’t get her crest until about 5-6ish weeks I believe! It’ll appear overnight 😅 I went out one morning and was like “oh, look at your little Mohawk!” 🤣
What about the yellow legs and beak? Did those take a while to come through too? It’s really good to hear that your legbars crest wasn’t there at 2 weeks. Maybe the one in the thread was older than 2 weeks old

I think her legs were that light flesh color at first too! I’m not sure when they really turned “yellow” but looking at pictures her legs were the same color as your chicks!

I do not know much about CCLs, although I have been learning about them all I could, as I have some of their eggs in my incubator. :)
However, the yellow legs in breeds like Barnevelders are caused by gene that makes the birds able to deposit beta-carotene in their skin. However, they need beta carotene in their diet first. Beta carotene is in nice fresh grass and other greens. I once bought two Bernevelders with rather white legs, proudly posted them on some Bernevelder group only to be told they are not Barnevelders, but crossbred (not the word that was used). Fortunately, I did not take the nastiness to heart, let the girls out on the lawn, and within couple of weeks their legs started to turn yellow, and then almost orange. :) I did not actually confront those nasty "experts".

I would expect it would be the same in other breeds. The breeds with white legs, just do not have the ability to deposit the beta carotene, does not matter how many carrots, or the canary red fact potion, you give them. :)
