Is this egg under a broody hen? If so, maybe she pecked at the shell and broke it. Maybe the egg is older than you thought? I couldn't say if it would be alright with an open shell like that and 6 more days left to incubate if that is truly how much longer it needs.

Can you hear peeping? What if it is trying to hatch and now it can't breathe because of the wax. Are you sure about the hatch date on this one?
