is my chicken going to lay?

I don't understand...the original post says 9 WEEKS not 9 MONTHS...? Chickens usually start laying around 20 weeks so if the original post was correct then you are about half way there!
i love Kale with eggs!!!!!!!!!!

I got my birds in april and they started laying in august but they are golden comets which tend to lay earlier. Just keep an eye out for the signs:
1. Comb and waddles reddening
2. Squatting
3. The "egg" song.

Only one of my birds does the egg song so my hint was the first two. Best of luck!

My RIR and Australorp I got in March just started laying in August but I also got what I I think is a New Hampshire Red and she has had a red comb and wattles for a while now and has been squatting for about a month. I'm still waiting. Patience is definitely key. But that first egg is so worth it.

My girls don't sing the egg song but my rooster does. Anytime one gets in the nest boxes, he starts singing until they come out. 1 lays in the morning and the other is a lunchtime layer so at least I know when I have a new egg. He'll be worn out when the other 5 start laying (some are only 16 weeks so we have a while)
