hello everyone, i have just come out to my chickens and one is in the nesting box she is normally very very friendly although I have just stroked her and she started sort of screaming extremely loud, is she okay?!?! please get back to me soon! thanks

hi yes she did and then i realised she had just layed an egg for me and now she seems fine, thank you

My girl Yellow does this every day. She is a RIR, about 2 years old, and loves to pretend to be a mama, even though we never hatch eggs, and don't have a roo. she is fine

That sounds normal. Some of my hens will fluff up, peck, and growl when they are on the nests to lay an egg if I stick my hand in there. Some of my broody hens aren't that bad about protecting their nest. Each hen is an individual and has its own personality. Glad you and she are OK.

Mine don't much appreciate being petted, or having me rummaging around in their business looking for eggs, while they're in labor either
