Hello All...
I have a cockerel who is a red Silkie. He is coming to age now and he has the most beautiful gold feathers around his neck and black/blue sheen long tail feathers. Is he classed as a partridge silkie?

Got a pic?? He sounds like a Partridge to me. A true "Red" Silkie is colored like the old time Rhode Island Reds, a deep, dark, brick color.

Not what I've seen - they seem to be more of a dark buff colour.

Does sound like he is a partridge or a mix of colours.

Thanks both of you. I'll try and upload a picture tomorrow. It's raining at the moment- surprise surprise- and he's in his house. :)

Both of my red silkies are very light red, like a light ginger. The hen (his sister) has a white stripe down her chest. They're probably mixed.
