One of my hens keeps displaying trouble laying down. She wants to sunbathe and spread her wings but she’s constantly squatting and then standing back up. She’s about two years old, just went through her first molt and does have an old injury on her backside from a dog bite but that was well over a year ago. Any tips on what I should look for to make sure she’s okay? Video on Insta to show it.

She looks like she's disturbed or alert to something that is drawing her attention in the yard. Are there other hens around, a rooster, Hawk? Crows?

You can always check her out to see if there's anything like a little swelling of the joints or something going on with the legs.

If she's molting, it may be that pin feathers are sticking her every time she goes to settle down and she's trying to adjust to find a more comfortable position.

Thank you. I only have three hens and they are always together and love to hang out (and poop on lol) my porch. No predator birds at that time. I’ll give her a good inspection and see if maybe she has some pin feathers still. I thought most of her feathers had significantly grown in by now but her comb is still quite pale so she must still be molting.
