Any thoughts? My "pullets" are 11 weeks old, but I suspect that Gertie is gonna crow...let me know what you think! We're only allowed to have hens here, so I'll have to re-home if I have a rooster...The bright red comb and wattles, along with the tail and saddle feathers, are what makes me wonder. Thanks in advance!

I think you are right she is a Roo, at least that is my guess based on "her" pointed saddle feathers, hackles, long legs, large wattles and general body. I could be wrong. See how this roo looks, he is 25 weeks (different breed I know but good example).

Oh no!

Thanks so much for the replies. Another question...How long do I have until he crows, usually? I'll want to find him a new home by then so I don't get in trouble with our ordinances and have to get rid of the other two. He's 11 weeks old.

When he starts showing interest in the girls. It usually happens together(crowing, attempting to mate the girls)I have 4 young roosters all the same age, born in the same clutch that are over 5 or 6 months old,and only one is crowing and attempting to mate the hens,Hope this helps.
