Is my coop the only drama filled one?

My goodness, in all my reading about chickens since I got them a few months ago not one source brought up the subject of flock drama lol. Drama between the hens, horny roosters causing drama, body slamming drama over tossed treats and I can't forget the two roost drama at coop lock up time. God forbid my other rooster gets on the alpha's roost, the idiot just lays there for a while like the alpha just might stop pecking him on the head at some point lol. Takes the poor boy longer than it should to get down in my opinion, maybe he's just not that bright and that's why he's not alpha

Then there's the drama when Mrs Howell, leghorn, flies over their fence when I let them out back... roosters doing the egg song {sigh, someday maybe I'll hear one of my hens sing that}, the whole flock running back and forth along the fence line and Mrs Howell doing the same but on the outside until I catch her. Mrs Howell, you flew over... FLY back in, oy!

I love sitting with them, watching them and their drama, they crack me up immensely - they are so entertaining

OMG, my coop has more drama than one of those Real Housewives shows. If I could do it all over again, I'd have gotten all the same breed. I think when you only have a few hens and no rooster, well, I think chickens really like having a buddy who looks like them. So going with a mixed flock is where this all began.

But in general, all my hens get along. No one gets bullied away from food or water and certainly no blood is being drawn. And we've learned to appreciate their larger than life personalities.

And if that's a Jersey Giant in your avatar, there's a big part of your drama source. My Jersey Giant is wicked smart and she causes all kinds of drama at my house.

I don't think the other roo is an idiot, maybe he has brain damage from alpha letting him have 'it' in the head. Get that poor boy a hockey mask or something.

My little flock all gets along, their interactions with each other just remind me of back in junior high school lol. Tonight when I went to lock up the coop, both roos were on the same roost with only one hen in between them and all were content. My roosts are sort of V shape, so I call each line of the V a separate roost since it does sort of set them off on their own.

I have mixed breeds too, same as you no one gets bullied in any way. No, he's not a Jersey Giant, he's a black australorp and probably gets worn out from keeping every one out of trouble and breaking up little squabbles, he's got some silly hens in his harem lol. I have two of at least each breed I have, if not more.

You're not the Lone Ranger in this, at all!

My flock is a mixed one, not only several chicken breeds (and mixes 'cause the roosters like the ladies and some of 'em go broody and hatch babies) but also turkeys, ducks, geese, and a peacock.

Drama at Hand Feeding Treat Time, on the roost, in the nest boxes, in the prime dust-bathing spots, jockeying at the French Doors hoping I'll let them into the house, and in raising chicks.

So much fun to watch. :D

I had one house chicken who got stuck in a lampshade during a fight with her mother. :/
I can easily "see" this scenario, as I have *cough* some house chickens, too. My House Silkie keeps going broody, I keep letting her hatch chicks, she kicks 'em loose, they move outside during the day but want to roost inside the house at night near their Mama. None of them are silkies; they are all hatched from flock eggs, so eventually they get bigger than her. Sparkle still kicks their fluffy butts, though. sometimes on the back of the sofa....
