hey once more! so my east indie, mantis, has been acting a bit strange lately! shes 7 weeks and 5 days old and im not sure if shes feeling down or if its her teenage phase.
mantis was hand raised alone for about two weeks so she and i were really close, we always hung out and she always wanted to be with me. i get her two siblings, which turn out to be boys
, and she seems pretty fine with them. around this time, maybe 3 weeks old, she doesnt really enjoy the bathtub anymore. she'll sit there and wait for me to come back from cleaning, and she'll try and jump out to get with me. shes continued to do this ever since and just sits in the bath. she will clean herself but never swims like her brothers do.
maybe for the past two or so weeks, we havent hung out as much as we used to due to me being busy with side stuff, the only time we really "hangout" is when i clean it out and then when i give them more food and water daily.
so recently, for a week or more, cant really remember, shes been a lot more quiet. she will just sit and stare at whatever and when she sees me, she perks up, or when im standing up she'll stand and wont move and once i sit down, she'll get in my lap. she also no longer really likes my mom since my mom hasnt been here a lot to see her so when my mom is near, mantis will get in my lap for comfort.
basically, shes unusually quiet and still but she kinda perks up when im around. today, i brought her and her brothers outside to swim and see the older ducks and she just stood there, even when they all kinda freaked out and flew around, she just stood there and waited for me to come to her. also, she jumped out of the pool too, didnt want to swim unlike her brothers.
i cant tell if its a teenage phase or if she is sad that we arent hanging out as much. its making me very sad and i plan to spend a lot more time with her this week and the upcoming weeks.
she is supposed to permanently go outside with her brothers by this weekend or next week and oh is it gonna break my heart to leave her outside and her think im leaving her forever
side note, she eats and drinks like normal, her poops have been more runny and a bit of mushy pieces in it but its brown and i think it might just be due to food being switched.
