Baby duck hatched on 03/18/22. We had to help it as it was shrink wrapped in it’s membrane. We are new to the ducks and have never hatched any before and didn’t know what to do other than to help it out. We completely took it out of the egg before looking up that the bottom half (umbilical) needs to stay attached to the duck until it detaches on its own. My question is, does it look infected or wrong? Our other three have a normal stomach and are walking fine. This one just lays there and doesn’t walk around. It’s stomach is soft but the stump is incredibly hard. It’s stomach also looks quite red. Will it live? Is there anything that can be done? Thanks in advance!
