Is my EE chick a Roo? or just Rumpless?

One of my EE's doesn't have any tail feathers. I'm worried it might be a roo. Hoping that maybe it's just going to be rumpless. Any input from those with knowledge to share would be greatly appreciated.

I picked up two 3 day old EE chicks from a lady nearby. No idea what the sex is on either one. "Gizmo" is the smaller darker one without any tail feathers. "Stripe" is the bigger lighter one with a stripe on it's head. Both are the same age, same parents.

The chick may just be slower feathering. It certainly doesn't seem rumpless, especially in that second photo. I find that feathering speed isn't always a great indicator of sex. Just wait a few more weeks. Then post some new pics!

I have four EE's... 19 days old. Two are much slower to feather than the other two... I posted a bunch of pics a few days ago and everyone told me to wait a few weeks and see. Both are starting to get tail feathers now, so we'll see what they are in a few weeks! Mine look a lot like yours... two of each in those colors, and interestingly, one of each color is late with the tail feathers.

Thanks, I saw your post too. The wait is kind of torture for us. My 2 EE's are the sweetest most gentle ones in the bunch. And the family favorite. I hope they are pullets

Yeah, it's torture, cuz if we have a rooster he has to go live in the country at my friends' place... and we love them all!!!!

I don't know about the gender, but it certainly is not rumpless. I can see its little tail.

Some are slower than others...out of 30-something chicks I have between one and two months old, I have one little Brahma chick that still doesn't have a tail growing in.

I don't have tons of experience, but your EE's legs appear to be yellow, not the typical EE greenish colored legs that I've seen (and that my 2 EE's have). Are their legs yellow, or is it just the lighting?

I've posted a pic of my youngest group of chicks - 4 weeks old, taken two days ago. They are the 3 chicks that are obviously not BO's. You can see the color of their legs pretty well. Just for comparison. As for gender, I've read on the forum from different posters that EE's can be tricky to sex, though I haven't much experience with it myself yet. The suspense is rough! Guess we'll both know soon enough though.
