Is my girl just cold

I have 4 or 5 different hens doing this ; just the only one i snapped pic of.. buff orp, olive egg, plymouth rock, turken & cochin are the main ones . They are all puffed up and some arr hiding there heads. Temp is mid to high 30s. Which is extremely cold for south Louisiana

the other 15 are not doing it; at least I havent seen them yet

All my chickens do this, and it’s the middle of summer. This is a very normal chicken thing, the almost all chickens do. I don’t know exactly why I chickens do this. But I think it’s to keep their head up so it doesn’t just fall into the ground whilst they sleep. One of my chicks almost always sleeps like this, or else her head will just fall onto the ground (it does look kind of creepy like she has died). It is in no way a course for concern.

Mine often do it on the ground. Though it is a lot more common in winter, or on cold summer days. They do puff up when their on the ground.

My hens are doing this, and it just seems like a way to keep warm. Same here! It's 28F which is pretty cold for us.
