Is my hen a rooster?

I bought 4 buff Orpingtons that were suppose to be 5-6 months old and about to lay. I started to hear cockadodal doing a couple days later. Two of the group started fighting like roosters. I was able to take 3 of them back but now I’m wondering about the one I kept. She looks like a hen but is mounting my girls. I heard a strange sound from her but not crowing. Does anyone have any ideas how to tell if she is a he. Here is a picture of her and a couple of the ones I gave back. The last two are of her and the others are of the three I sent back.

I had a hen that would attempt to crowd and be the Rooster, looks like hen to me, except for the pictures at the water dish, kinda has thick legs but I don't see hackles.

Yes, I don’t see any pointed saddle feathers. I have heard that if you don’t have a rooster in your flock that sometimes a hen will step up and be “the leader” and make sounds that sound like a rooster. That is sort of what one of my hens did before I got a rooster and it was a little weird at first but she still laid eggs and never tried to fight the others. Hope that helps

Can you try to get more pictures of the one you kept? Maybe some close up standing side view?

I was thinking maybe because she has lived with only 3 Roos for her whole life that maybe that’s the only way she knows how to act.

This looks like a hen to me. Some hens will act like roosters to rise to the the top of the pecking order or to keep dominance over other chickens. Based on the look of your hen, it seems she is a she. I have three younger chickens who do the same thing to figure out the pecking order.

The strange sound could just be a noise form the chickens of a noise made after laying an egg.

Hens will fight like that though.

I can not keep 3 fighting roosters. He actually missed his chickens and was kinda happy to get them back.

That's quite an assumption, and not really appropriate here.

Is this bird 5-6 months old?
Looks like a female to me, from the saddle feathers.
