I recently added one of my hens with a new roo she has been with him for about 2 days. She has been fine this evening I found her in the nest on a nest egg (Fake egg) I keep in the nest box. She was all poof'ed up I removed the roo and decided to add some eggs she came off the nest she is walking around off poof'd up and her I don't know a good way to say this but her butt was pulsing???

She has never been with a roo she is a little over a year old so is the roo. She laid an egg this morning. also has a bit of runny poo. color is green and white.

I'm just worried if she isn't broody why is she all puff'd up. any help would be greatUGH

I think by the sounds of it she is. But give her a couple more days... does she make a cluck cluck sound when she was off the nest? And did she spread her wings back and out kinda looking like a shield? If shes doing that then she definitly is!

She didn't cluck but she was holding her wings out like I am use to seeing boody hens or hens with chicks. I went down and checked on her about 30 mins ago and she was back in the nest on top of the eggs.

Oh yes I got her some eggs they will be all from my showgirl pen. So really excited! I have some now on day 6 in the incubator. I only have 2 fresh eggs collected right now so I will have to let her sit on her fake eggs untill I get enough saved up for her to brood.

I went down and check her this morning and YES she is 100% broody she was purring and growling at me!!! I got another egg this morning from my showgirl pen so now I have 3 eggs for her.

Oh yes I will post pics of her later! I LOVE BROODIES!

ugh this is the one thing that bugs me about broodies. I know hens leave the nest sometimes but with young 1st time broodies they drive me crazy she is off her nest clucking around UGH
