I was outside winterizing my chicken coop when I noticed my red pullet was laying in a nesting box. I watched her for 10 mins and I saw she was taking straw out of the nesting box beside her and putting it in the one she's in. Also she's making these grunting noices. Is she going broody/going to be setting?
and Welcome to BYC! She may just be laying an egg, even if they are not broody they will often rearrange the nesting material and make a lot of fussy noise. If she is broody, she should continue to stay on the nest pretty much all day and night, only leaving maybe once a day to eat etc.
