is my hen broody ?

so i went to collect some eggs around 2:30 theres a hen in the laying box i looked under her for some eggs but nothing i came back to look and she was asleep is she broody her eyes wear shut then i came back to check on her and she was taking the bedding and moving it with her beack or putting it on her back i would love a broody hen but just dont know

I think she's broody, because broodies sleep on the nest. You should feel her tummy, broodies will pluck feathers from a spot on their tummy. Also they will growl if you try to take eggs or disturb her.

She may be or she may still be in the process of laying an egg. Many hens do the nest material on the back just prior to leaving the nest. Possibly a carryover from when hens hid their nests ? If she stays in the nest over night, it is probable that she is in the early stages of broodiness.

I saw mine on the nest at night when I was checking on them, and she's currently hatching one!

well there is one fake egg but no other eggs and she did get bad at me for looking onder her
