Is my hen broody ??

Hi !! My light sussex hen (Sally) doesn't go to the coop at night with the rest of the flock instead she goes into the nesting box and sits on the eggs all puffed up. If any other hen goes into the nesting box while shes there she screams. Every day she's out of the nest behaving as normal !! She's at the bottom of the pecking order and gets bullied a bit. Is she broody or just laying an egg ?! SOMEONE HELP !!!

If I understand right she is sitting on the nest all night. If that is correct and she is acting territorial about the box as well I would say yes. Though I would not give her a clutch of eggs as she has no maternal instinct during the day when there are better things for her to do.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I think she is probably broody, but she would not be a dedicated enough mom to hatch the eggs.
