Oh wow. Now I've learnt something new today. I always thought when i saw chickens with less feathers. I thought they were misused by their owners and thought sorry for them.or that other chickens are fighting with them. I do see some feathers in the coop.

Also, when you said you're a bit scared of your birds yet. I used to be the same way! First birds I got were some old layers that a guy was just giving away for free as their production had gone down. I started with 5. I was quite nervous around them. They were equally as nervous and unsure of me. I didn't like it when they came to peck at my boots, i tried to shoo them away. When I first got my chickens we had over 4 ft of snow on the ground, so they were confined to the coop. After spring, when they got to free range, we got to know each other much better, and now we're quite comfortable with each other.
