Is my Light Brahma a roo????

I vote roo, because of those 2 jaunty tail feathers popping out. He's already a show-off.

Dang! I should have knocked on wood before I cursed myself with those encouraging words. Is there ANYTHING that makes her look "hennish"? Please, just throw me a bone.

Sorry, I vote cockerel too. He's definitely a light brahma though. You won't get "mixes" from the hatcheries (except in birds like easter eggers, which are mixes), just not great quality pure breds. I've seen many pics of McMurrays brahmas and they all were very lacking IMHO.

I vote roo too. My Brahma roos are always slower to fully feather out than my hens and look raggedy until they are about 3 - 3 1/2 months old. It is a light Brahma, just a poorly colored one. But I'm sure he will still be a beautiful roo.

Its really hard to say because the bird is so poorly colored. There is a lot of black/grey where there should not be. Usually light brahma males show black in the saddle feathers as they come in. If you examine the saddles carefully and they are black laced with white-its a male. Females saddle feathers are(supposed to be) white.
Again, the poor coloring may make it difficult on this particular bird. No offense to you,or your bird!! Its just difficult to tell with all that extra black/grey.

It is true that males feather more slowly than females, at least in my light bantams.

I'm no expert but the pic of my brahma hen below looks the same age as that one and mine's tail isn't as jaunty.
