Is my muscovy an it?

To be more specific, I am looking at the drop off behind the tail, in a drake it is nearly flat while in a hen it is curved.
thank you for illustration, that curve is how I use to tell them apart when we first git them. the other ducks curve was always quite full and plump looking, this ones quite small in comparison

The caruncles don't really point to drake either IMO, she is missing the large knob that drakes have as well so there is another thing that points towards hen.

It does have a decent surface area but that can't really be used to determine the gender of a muscovy. You should see a show quality drake.

Not sure if this center knob has a specific name, if it doesn't it should because the size of it can help to determine gender, hens will have it to but it is much smaller like the one on your bird, almost covered up by the surrounding caruncle.
(these are not show quality btw, I don;t have any, just normal drakes for a comparison of knob size.)

This would help to prove that the hen has not laid or set eggs yet. That curve is still a bit much for a drake to have.

:goodpost: This is a great tip that I had not heard before. I remember reading about “boat shaped” vs. some other shape, but I never really knew what it meant. This makes sense. Thank you!

Those Drakes are exactly what I'm use to seeing, but the no laying is what makes me second guess myself. I grew up on a trukey and emu farm and everything layed. Could there be a reason she hasn't layed?

I have seen show quality drakes pretty disgusting and not anything like a true Muscovy should look.
x2, I hate them. Some of them look like they can't even see. The hens that they are bred to have a LOT of caruncle too, compared to your average hen.

Not sure. I have a leghorn hen who has not laid yet and she is two years old. I guess it can just happen sometimes but I really have no idea :idunno Some sort of reproductive issue, possibly genetic?
