Hello!:) I am new to ducks. On the 2nd of June i bought 2 ,two weeks old muscovy ducklings and now they are three months old.!So i am wondering if the black one is duck or drake.I believe it is drake because it is very bigger than my grey(sry i don't know the correct names of my scovies) muscovy and its legs are also thicker! I love them very much and i hope they are a couple. However i would like to hear your views about that.Thank you very much :)) Here is a pic of them, the first day home:

actually, the girls get thicker legs, so that when they are older and want to mate... when i got muscovie ducklings, i got the one with the smallest beak and it turned out to be a girl. make sure that the bigger one isn't picking on the littler one... that would mean that the little one might not be getting enough food... they are so adorible!

CayugaLover thank you very much! No,it isn't picking on the litter one.Opposed they are very very good friends and both always eating hehe!:) when i went to buy them i choose one big and one small because i was thinking that they are drake and duck! :D

Yes, the black is definetly a drake and the blue (?) is a female. Very nice coloring.. Typically you will notice the size difference pretty early on. Even in the first pic, there is a noticable size difference. Males will have thicker legs since they are so much larger than females. While females legs are not slender, they do not compare in thickness to a drakes.

jdywntr thanks for your reply and for the welcoming.Yes i noticed the size difference early.I love their colours too.I wish it is drake:))

he's got an interesting shade of red in his chest in the second pic from the top. he looks petite to me for a drake, or slender in the neck. i could just be used to looking at my fat drakes though.

he also looks like he could get a white head judging on the white flecks around his eyes.

ian4379 thank you very much! I believe It looks thin because, it is only, almost three months old!Again thanks :D

Are these 2 Muscovies the same age? I have a young Muscovy drake that is 19weeks old tomorrow, and I could tell by size and legs on him by 7-8 weeks he was a drake. legs and size is a big giveaway.
