Is my Rhode Island Red a Hen or Rooster?

Thanks for the feedback but we are making arrangements to give the rooster to a friend that has a farm due to the fact that we live in city limits and us and our neighbors do not like being woken up to a rooster at 5am every morning. It is winter here as well and we just got these birds 5 months ago. We are planning on building our own larger coop in the spring to house our 4 birds.

good to hear your getting a bigger coop. looking at the pic it looks like that coop can't be any bigger then what .. 4 foot by 4 foot? which is definitely to small for 4 or 5 chickens. should be around 3 sq ft each grown chicken. unless you got big breeds like me then you need even more ( i have cochin standards and jersey giants in my flock). over crowding sucks for chickens and we all want happy chickens laying us plenty of eggs good luck in the build.
