That would be much more accurate than trying to guess the egg color genes by looking at feather color and other traits that have nothing to do with the actual genes for egg color.
If you are going to raise his daughters anyway, and are willing to wait for your answers, there is not much reason to pay for the test. But if you just want to know the answer, it is generally cheaper to pay for the test than to raise enough pullets to laying age (feed, housing, care), plus the test is faster.
