I got this rooster as an ameracuna, but at the time didn't know to ask if he was pure or not the hens I got with him all lay blue eggs, and from what I have read if he is pure then any hen he mates with will lay blue eggs, but if he is an Easter egger then he will not have the dominate blue gene!! I have eggs incubating now he was with barred rocks, Ameracana and cinnomen queens !! And one lil batam named little white so I was wondering what color eggs the hens out of this batch would lay. I also had to put him in chicken jail last week Bc he is so ruff with the ladies and they lay down for him, but some were starting to miss hair off the back of there heads and a few others he totally messed their back feathers up anyway basically I am trying to figure out if he is a true Ameracana or not any advice and info is very much welcomed

He's an Easter egger. He's a genetic crapshoot as far as egg color. You'll just have to hatch out some eggs and see how it goes. He could have everything from two blue genes to a blue and a brown.

Your barred hens' chicks will be sex links

So sex link means I can tell the boys from girls? How will I tell? And what about the other ameracuna hens will they be sex link? Also I read if the egg is oval it is a pullet and pointy is a cock is that true ?

regarding how to know if a bird is a pure Ameraucana or not--it's one of those things where if you have to ask, it's not pure bred

True Ameraucana breeders are as a rule very proud of their birds (rightfully so!) and make sure the buyers know they're getting a premium bird, either by price or just discussion about colors, egg color, etc. Any bird from a hatchery or feed store, or a backyard breeder who doesn't specify what color their stock is, is going to be an EE. Disclaimer--there are now pure Ameraucana available from one or two hatcheries, but again they specify color and you pay a premium price for them.

Another way is his color. There are specific accepted colors Ameraucanas come in, as with any breed of any animal. Your bird doesn't fit any of the colors, thus he's an Easter egger.

Your eggs from the Easter egger hens won't be sex linked at all, sorry.

But, the eggs from the barred rock hens will! It should be easy to tell boys from girls when they hatch--your boys will have a white spot on their heads, just like a barred rock. The girls will have solid dark heads. I'm thinking from his colors your female chicks will turn out mostly black, maybe with a red neck or chest. Your males will be black and white barred, with some red leakage on the wings, hackle and saddle feathers as they get older.

Putting him over your Cinnamon Queens is going to be a genetic crapshoot as far as what color the chicks will be--I'm guessing a lot of red and white, but funky colors can pop up when breeding sex links!
