Our salmon faverolle is about 2.5 weeks old and has had these curly wing feathers since about day 3. We are new to the breed and are wondering 1) is this normal? 2) does this indicate any heath concerns? 3) could she be a frizzle mix?

Certainly looks that way, I have 5 Salmon Faverolles chicks and all of their wing feathers are flat just like their parents. I have seen pictures of Frizzle Salmon Faverolles on the Official Faverolles of the USA page on Facebook. They also have a website. There is also an unofficial Faverolles page on Facebook too. I’ve also seen them in exhibition pens at the Ohio Nationals.

Thanks y’all! Ill keep you posted! I’ll be happy with our chunky cranky girl either way but just wanted to be sure it wasn’t indicative of a problem.

I’m a little concerned because we are in MN and I’ve heard that frizzles can be less good at heat retention and less cold hardy as a result. Does anyone have experience with winter flick care for frizzles?

I guess we’ll see!

I have bantam frizzle cochins. They do fine. They are much hardier than people say.
