Hello!

I have a 9 month old silkie cross named Ebony. She has been sitting down for a while now, but I don't think there are any eggs under her and I think she already laid an egg today. She doesn't puff up or make weird sounds when I go near her, but if I try to put my hand under her she pecks me. She is a little fluffed up around her tail and her wings are down. My Buff/blue silkie (also 9 months) just went broody.... could that have anything to do with it?

Thanks!

Doesn't sound to me like your silkie is broody. Broody hens don't usually lay, and they puff up and cluck at you. Maybe she doesn't feel right for some reason.

Your right, she isn't. Apparently she likes to take her sweet time laying eggs. About an hour after I posted this I went back to check on her and while I was there she plopped an egg in the box. Then she got up, did her victory cluck, and walked away.
She's such a doofus!
