Is my silkie getting broody?

My silkie has been laying in the nesting box all day so I thought perhaps she had laid an egg and was sitting on it but when I looked tonight there was nothing there, is this a sign that she is becoming broody? She has not laid on any eggs before this.

if she sits on the nest all night, and puffs up when you reach for her she is probably broody

Yes silkies just sit on nothing when they are broody and they go broody all the time!

Thanks, I always lock up the nesting box every night anyway, that is the first time she has stayed in there all day.

Right I see, I have had the pair of silkies for just a month now and she has not been broody before this.
