Is my turner doing its job?

Hey!
I put my eggs in yesterday, and every time the turner turns the eggs, they uncluster. I also started them on the O mark, and a few of them are opposite marks when turned. Are my eggs okay?

Probably. I don’t know how often that turner operates, but a broody hen does not turn each egg exactly 180 degrees at the same time. It’s a random turning at random times. As long as each egg is turned a few times a day, even if each individual turning is less than 180 degrees, they should be fine.

I have that turner. It's the IncuTurn egg turner. It slowly rolls the eggs back and forth. If I remember correctly, it takes about 4 hours to roll all the way in one direction, then it reverses and slowly rolls them back the other way. I was skeptical at first, because it moves so slowly, you can't really see it working. I put the eggs in the slots long-ways (I see in the pic, some of the eggs are sideways). When I walk past the incubator, I glance in and note how many vertical floor wires are visible between the edge of the turner and the wall of the incubator. Later, when I walk by and look again, I can tell by how many wires are exposed (or now covered) whether the turner is working. As long as the eggs are long-ways in the slot, they'll roll. I've had very good hatch rates with that turner (95% on shipped eggs) so I can vouch for it. Another nice thing about it is that on day 18, you just unplug it and it becomes part of the floor of the incubator. You don't have to unload the incubator and remove it like other turners.

Edited to add: I see that you have the eggs in the two rows closest to the turner motor. I would move the eggs out a row or two. The arm that moves the turner floor rotates back and forth and with the eggs clustered so close, it may be why some of your eggs are getting nudged sideways. Also the motor, when it is running, gets warm enough to raise the overall temp in the incubator by almost a degree, so eggs right next to the turner motor might be a bit warmer than your temp indicates. Just move the eggs out a bit and give the motor a little more space.
