Is Peepers sick? (pics inside)

Colie I am not saying that you did. I am sorry if I am giving you that impression. I was just telling you how my clutch got it. You are doing everything that you can, I can tell. Good luck to you and please keep me posted. I know how you feel with a sick chick. These things just happen sometimes.

Oh no I didn't take it like that no worries, I was just thinking out loud and trying to make myself feel better. I'll keep this updated.

Colie I used a little Giant. I laid the eggs on the side marked x on one side and o on the other and turned them every day. They started popping out like pop corn. The chirping and the floppying around in that bator scared the day lights out of me. I thought that I would get 5 or 6. I bought 75 from ebay. Never again.

Good luck and I am taking my friend out to dinner and maybe shopping or something. I spent the last 2 days at the mall and on this sight because I had 2 days off work. I have to stay out of BEBE's store.

i used nutri drench it is a vitamin enriched solution that i put into her food and made a watery mash with it.. i also put it in their water so all chicks could get it.. the one i had survived but it took a couple of days for her to perk up.. and i continued to hand feed her out of a spoon.. i would just dip her bill in and she would peck at it a tiny bit.. after a couple of days she was really pecking at it, and i was able to make a mash with the vitaimins and all the chicks ate it like it was going out of style..i did this for about a week and everyone grew up fine and strong.. she was tiny compared to the others and i think shipping is stressful on them all.. i got it at a tractor supply store. good luck with your baby

Update: It's been a few hours and there hasn't been any changes. Peepers is still poufed up and lethargic but she is eating and drinking with no problem or reserve.
I went to the feed store and picked up some Sulmet, Wazine and Durvet Vitamins and Electrolyte mix.
I'm not sure what exactly is up with Peepers since she doesn't have bloody poop but she did have something come out of her that looked clear and watery with spots of white. Since that she has had pretty normal looking poo.
I gave all the chicks a dose of Sulmet, Electrolytes in their water tonite along with one dose of Wazine which I'll repeat again in 30 days.
None of the other chicks are lethargic like Peepers but two of them have watery stool. So I just went ahead and dosed them all. I'll keep up with the Sulmet and Electrolytes for everyone for the next week. I hope it's not overkill to treat everyone for suspected cocci but I'm really afraid not to and everyone get sick and die suddenly on me.

Really don't know what else to do... I don't think there is an avian vet around here either. I hope I see some improvement in the next 24 hours but I'm encouraged that she hasn't declined anymore as of yet.

Sounds like things are going to get better, and I hope they do.

Backtracking a bit, I don't have much experience with Cocci---and it still sounds like some sort of "worm" disease to me, though, granted---my parents always told me that's what was wrong with the chickens whenever they acted like they did, when they were sick with watery stool, thin breastbone, fluffed feathers, low wings, hunched, and lethargic, though granted they might never have actually had "worms."

I grew up with that being the answer to everything too, from chickens to dogs. I think I default to that diagnosis as well. If I had to guess I'd say Peepers has worms and so do a couple of the others. However cocci scares the crap out of me so I'm not taking any chances. I invested a lot into these chicks and I'd be really upset if they all got wiped out by cocci because I didn't treat them. I wish I had more experience with chickens but I guess we all start somewhere right?

Well said, and I wouldn't take chances either. I just have to say, good luck, and far as I'm concerned, if a chicken is eating/drinking/pooping (all three) then there is a high chance that that bird will pull through.
