Is pet rat poop okay for the chicken run?

Pet rat colonies actually have tons of hidden and serious diseases that can be zoonotic. Everything from Seoul to Syphilis - and these diseases tend to stay hidden until they get people sick and cause the CDC to go around and cull entire domestic colonies.

Rats also produce huge amounts of ammonia and it would be extremely unsanitary to double dip their bedding by giving it to the chickens.

I breed domestic rats and they are not as clean as you've been led to believe, especially if the rattery they came from did not perform testing through Charles River and IDEXX.

The rat bedding is not for the chickens to eat, I'm sure. Many people put their compost heaps in their chicken run. I'm sure this is the sole intention. That being said. I wouldn't dump my litter boxes or dog poop bucket in my chicken run. You can compost it separately to reduce your carbon footprint, however! Best of luck :woot
