IMG_1972.JPG I just noticed my hen Tiffany's ears look really weird! Like they are prolapsed or something. Is this normal? Tiffany is acting, eating, and pooping completely normal. She is a 20 week old Buff Orp and lays good, normal eggs.

I have a RIR that has ears that look a little bigger than your Buff's. His ears have been like that from day that we adopted him. He is a gentle, sweet, kind rooster.

I do noticed that when he was scared/stressed, his ears went very pale. Usually they are a deep red.

I've been actively paying attention to my other chickens and their ears. The ear sizes and colors are vary on my birds.

I don't worry about it. Just like people, every chicken is a little different in a special way.

That is the earlobe actually. It looks curled out, and looks like some marks on it. Are both lobes the same? Has anyone been pecking her? I don't know if it could be swollen, or maybe she is getting some fowl pox scabs from mosquitoes. Are there any tan or brown scabs on her comb or on any other chicken? Here is some info on fowl pox to help you compare with what she has:

No, it's just the lighting. No one pecks anyone in my flock.
