I am almost positive my chicken has prolapse and she does not seem to have any pain. I am trying different things in hopes of healing. I was just wondering is it fatal??

It is not invariably fatal. BUT

You want to decrease egg laying (think dark or drugs)
Deworm
Get prolapse reduced and keep it reduced
Reduce weight if she's heavier than she should be

I also have a hen that survived a NASTY prolapse. It lasted for several weeks and then just went away. I thought she was a gonner, and she would have been, if either my husband or myself would have had the guts to kill her. Im glad we didnt. She is just fine and beautiful and living with the others like nothing ever happened. And it was disgusting.

Prolapse just doesn't have to happen. With the proper nutrition, care and exercise there shouldn't be prolapse. It is a result of lack of minerals--Calcium being the key nutrient.

It is always a good idea to give your birds a good Probiotic additive on a regular basis.

It can be, it depends how much is exposed. Generally about 1/2 an inch in bantams and 1 inch in LF of exposed tissue is fixable. Any greater prolapse usually leads to hemmorage or inability to properly digest food. Isolate the bird right away and clean the exposed tissue with warm water. Rub some hemmoroid cream on the vent (be sure to get it inside the cloaca too!), and push the prolapse back inside. You'll likely have to do this every day. Give the bird an antiinflamatory (Motrin 200 mg, half a pill per bantie, whole pill per LF) to help the swelling go down.

Be sure to check if the prolapse is caused by egg binding or coccidiosis. It's probably a good idea to add Apple Cider Vinegar to her water during her recovery.
