is rice ok?

we have rice in that has bugs in it can i give it to them or do i need to cook it first? thanks

I've always heard uncooked rice is bad because it can swell. Not sure if it is true. It would be fine cooked, bugs and all.

Yes I have heard, no dry beans or rice. Just cook it up bugs and all. Boiled rice and bug pilaf!

YOU DO NOT NEED TO COOK IT.

Let me repeat that, you do not need to cook it.

It's just an urban myth that it will swell up and kill them; their body temperature simply isn't high enough. It'll be fine as a treat, my chooks go crazy when I toss out a handful of raw(yes, raw) brown rice. They're still alive.

I will third this. As with anything, feed should still be the largest quantity of food they are getting. You can feed almost anything else in moderation.

My girls will not eat it unless it i cooked...must be spoiled but they love steamed brown rice. There is no nutritiona value in white rice for them and barely any in brown but they enjoy it.
