I sometimes put things too close together in order to maximize use of space. Just as an example, I've had some storms bring down trees and huge branches requiring things to be rebuilt and it is much easier if there is room to work. One of my pens was a big chain link dog pen partly covered with galvanized roofing and the rest welded wire. Half of the chain link rails and all were crushed in a storm. It took me a long time to fix it because I had so little space to work.
That may not be a concern for those that are in wide open spaces but most of my buildings are under old growth forest. But tornados and wind storms can affect anyone.
