Hi guys, I got two baby chicks a month ago but I'm not sure how old they are. Now that they are growing, their combs are growing in very differently from one another. I was wondering if they are both females or not. Here are some pictures. One is a silver laced Wyandotte & the other is gold.

It's hard to tell with just the comb, it would be very helpful if you could maybe post some body pictures too.

Part of why they look different is because the silver laced has a straight comb and the gold has a rose comb. They are supposed to have rose combs, but every so often a straight will show up.

how old? At this point nothing is screaming cockrel.

The Silver Laced is not purebred, or it is extremely poor hatchery stock. It should have a rose comb. It is really difficult to tell the gender by the pictures, could you get better ones?

Thanks guys! lots of help. I researched the breed, as we have never had this specific type before, & the straight comb was definitely what was throwing me off. I can post some better pictures tomorrow when it's not dark out.
