Is she drowning?

I have hatched out 6 chicks so far in my incubator, two more have pipped, I heard these two peeping throughout this part of hatching, now one looks like it's gasping it isn't making noise and there is a lot of fluid inside the shell. any advise, don't want to loose her!

thanks, I read and reread and bookmarked that article, it doesn't address what I am seeing.
she is still in a puddle and still gasping but not peeping. The other one is zipping right along.

I would help her out. Zipping means the chick is ready. When chick stops in the middle of zipping you should help. Maybe she is stuck although not chirping doesnt sound good :-(

Thank you, she was not zipping, her clutch mate was. She was gasping and had not progressed while the other kept making progress. Sadly as her clutch-mate broke free, I watched her breath her last. what a mixed bag of emotion.

One wiggling and thrashing in the incubator, the other laying on a towel and no life in her. her yolk sac was not absorbed and I am thinking she was not positioned correctly, it was a brahma egg that was very round...I don't know, this is my first time hatching in an incubator and I have seven joys and one huge sorrow...

Its inevitable when you hatch. In such situations you can try to help but theres no guarantee... try to enjoy your other chicks, im sure they are adorable!!
