Is she getting close?

When you come up from behind and reach out as if to grab her, does she squat? Most of my brown egg layers squatted when they were either laying or close, but none of my mediterranean birds have...

Ok, I just tried and she just started running in circle wondering what the heck I was trying to do 😂

Ok, got a couple more pictures of her since we cooled down. It's about 85ish and a breeze. I've also attached a picture of another who's not as red bit her comb and wattle have grown a bit recently. Maybe I'll get lucky and theyll all start laying at the same time 😂

It's hard to wait!

Maybe I'll try later today once its cooled down.
I always do exams off the roost after dark,
they are much easier to 'catch' then...less stress for everyone.

that will only tell me IF they're laying, not if they're close to laying.
The pelvic points will spread before laying commences, just like squatting and red combs, those signs can happen a couple weeks before an egg appears.
IME messing in the nests is the sign that comes closet to actual laying.

Ok, well today somebody was messing around in the nesting box. I went to check if any of them would squat and all of them did. So fingers crossed they will all start soon. I mean, they're almost 20 weeks so it should be starting.
