I have heard that some people blow out that first egg, decorate it, and hang it on their Christmas tree as an ornament. That way you get to eat it and keep it.

I blew my first one out, but didn't even think of making a Christmas ornament out of it. It's in a little sugar bowl "nest" that my grandmother gave me. Two treasures together.
