We tried that. She sat on a some chicken eggs we gave her in another nest for a couple of hours and then ran off the duck mom again. She actually will sit on top of the duck mom while she’s brooding until she moves. It’s very funny and also frustrating. The other hen made her own nest. But I did a couple years ago had a broody chicken and broody duck both sitting on nests. They were both up to eat and the chicken saw the “abandoned” nest and tried to sit on it. The duck came back and the hen and duck had a bit of a mom fight. The duck ended up running off the chicken and reclaimed her nest. Maybe give the home invader something to sit on??
