How crass they are, but can't wait for eggs! My rooster is still a little ruff too, will he get better? He is about 18 to 19 weeks old.

hey rancher hick,
this is Buffy, I too am wondering about the hens letting the roo do his thing, does that mean she is getting ready to lay? She is about 18 wks., she is black sex link, her comb and wattles are redder than they were. But most of all, she used to squawk[spelling?] when he would try to climb on her but now she just lets him.
oh, and the embarrassed part, I know where you're coming from, my boys were ready to "whup up on that ol' rooster" for doing Pretty Girl like that. I told my husband he was going to have to explain a little!

Well I would have expected it from a chicken called a sex link! But this is a high classed neighborhood, and I wouldn't order a chicken named sex link anything. One of them is strutting around with a red feather boa and humming "go sister , go sister". She is a Silver Wyandotte and I have to admit the red goes good with her coloring.
