We only got up to 90 today and it's now 84. It was nice and breezy also. I gave them a bunch of frozen berries and she started roaming the yard eating bugs and grass. She also wasnt panting. Maybe the berries helped? I'll keep an eye on her.It looks to me like she is having trouble with the heat. She is suffering and trying to find a way to "beat the heat". Just my opinion. If she can't get cooler she will die, and it will be sudden. If it's a heat problem you may just see her acting normal in the morning and find her dead in the afternoon. I don't know what the temperature is in your state, but it's happened to me twice this year.![]()
She does. They were ranging around the yard but they have a dust bath area in their run that they had access to.Does she have places to dust bathe?
Shes only 24 weeks and a new layer but I guess it's possible? She laid today and didnt stay in the boxMaybe shes trying to become broody
Sounds like she will be ok. I have a hen named Bridget who started laying eggs for less than a week and became broody! It's possible, but unlikely I'd say. Just keep an eye on her.Shes only 24 weeks and a new layer but I guess it's possible? She laid today and didnt stay in the box
She seems ok so far today. We're nice and cool in the 70s and shes acting pretty normal. There was a small soft shelled egg yesterday so I wonder if she laid that one and maybe it took some energy out of her. I'll continue to watch but so far she seems good.Sounds like she will be ok.
