Hello,
For exactly 1 week, my hen Sweets has had an upper respiratory infection. She wheezes and has horrible wracking sneezing fits. We have seen her drink a little water and she eats pretty well considering. We are giving her tetracycline in her water, but she doesn't really seem to be improving. Her face is purple sometimes. I picked her up today and she has really lost weigh, I can feel her breast bone which I could never feel before. Should I put her out of her misery? Or should I wait, and for how long? Is there anything else I can do??

Have you separated her from the others? There's a med that I use in those cases that you can get almost anywhere, it's called vetrx. It would be worth a try. Also check her nostrils for blockage as well as her throat. Feed her yogurt and boiled mashed egg and that's about all that I can suggest, perhaps others will chime in.
